Nambung National Park, about 189 km north of Perth, and well worth a short detour off Indian Ocean Drive on a road-trip from Perth to Monkey Mia, Exmouth and Broome.
You can drive right to the Pinnacles Desert Discovery Centre in a two-wheel drive car, and it’s an easy 45-minute walk from the car park through the pinnacles and back on the Desert View Trail (around 1.5 kilometre).
You can also visit this unique landscape as part of a guided day-trip from Perth that includes a visit to Swan Valley to see the Gombok Gallery Sculpture Park, sand surfing at Lancelin, a walk through seasonal flowers at The Ngilgen Lookout, ending with a picnic dinner and star gazing in Nambung National Park.
