Low to No Single Supplements for Solo Female Travellers
Are you a senior solo female traveller who is tired of paying high single supplements? Want a room with a view not the back of beyond? Want to take a European river cruise but the few solo cabins on board seem to always be sold out? And don’t mention the ocean cruise lines whose single cabins are located in the middle of the ship! If you’re looking for better options with low to no single supplements, I’m here to help make your travel dream a reality!
What if I told you, I could get you a balcony stateroom on a river cruise in Europe with no single supplement?
As a travel advisor, I have insider access to book my clients on European river cruise itineraries with low to no single supplement that aren’t always available to the general public right away or, sometimes, at all!
From time to time, river cruise lines make a select number of balcony staterooms available with low to no single supplement for solo travellers to enjoy the views as they cruise without having to pay double as usually would be the case. These offers are often not available to the general public via the cruiseline’s website right away. Sometimes you can only book through select travel advisors who have the insider information – and I happen to be one of them.
So, if you are a solo female traveller and would love to go on a European cruise with a low to no single supplement…
Let’s make your travel dream a reality!
It sucks to pay single supplements but I’m here to help you travel solo affordably
My main goal as a travel planner specializing in solo female travel is to help solo female travellers (especially those over 50) experience the world safely and sustainably. However, one of the challenges solo travellers face, male solo travellers included, is that travelling solo often costs as much as travelling with a companion, due to the hefty single supplements they have to pay for accommodations and cruises.
This makes travelling solo especially hard for senior solo females, who are living on just their pension and using their hard earned savings for travel. When you add all the single supplements up on a 4-week trip around Europe, that can amount to quite a bit extra over and above what a couple or family would pay. It doesn’t seem fair, but tour operators and hoteliers are in business to make money. They usually cost everything out based on two people sharing, and the price you see is often per room, not per person or is based on double occupancy.
If they halved the rate for solo travellers they would lose money on the room or stateroom being booked. Imagine if the entire cruise was full of solo travellers paying half the cost for their stateroom that two passengers would normally stay in. Some cruise lines do offer single cabins on board and some hotels offer single rooms. However, these tend to be a lot smaller and in less desirable locations, with no decent view. It is understandable, but this is not always desirable for the traveller.
On occasion, tour operators and cruise lines offer low to no single supplements for solo travellers, but usually these offers are only available for a short time and by the time you hear about them, it’s too late to book. Often they are only accessible through a travel agent associated with a particular consortia (such as Virtuoso) or host agency (such as Trevello – my host agency) and are not published on consumer websites.
This is why I am constantly on the lookout for travel suppliers offering low to no single supplements, special offers with reduced rates or buy-one-get-one deals that female solo travellers in their senior years can take advantage of.
If you are a senior solo female traveller, or approaching retirement, I am here to help make your travel dream a reality! Because these offers are often short lived, I don’t have time to post anything about them on my website. If you’re looking for something specific, contact me to fill out my travel planning form, so I can let you know as soon as something becomes available that matches your travel wants, needs, desires and, of course your budget.
