Kumini Beach, Molokai, Maui, Hawaii

I simply love Moloka‘i.This tiny island adjacent to Maui (which is actually part of Maui County), is like no other on earth.

Of all the Hawai‘i Islands I’ve visited (and I’ve been to four), it’s the most unspoilt, secluded and pristine.

It’s like taking a step back in time, not like when you go to Cuba, where all the cars are from the 60s and brightly coloured.

More like a bygone era with no big box stores, no shopping malls, not even a traffic light, and there is barely any traffic, which means you more or less have the roads to yourselves, especially in the early morning (which is when we landed from our Mokulele flight from Kahalui, Maui).

The beaches (at least the ones we went to) are empty and secluded and the mountainous landscape is simply stunning.

Kumini Beach, which we came across on our journey from the Kaulapapa Lookout to Halawa Bay, is just one of the many beaches along the south shore.

No matter where you go in Molokai, you can escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, relax and just enjoy an island paradise that is second to none.

One note to mention: If you go to Molokai for more than a day, you may want to take some food supplies with you from Maui, particularly snacks and bread, as the prices are even higher than it is on the main four Hawaiian islands. Although there is a very nice bakery (which is also a cafe/restaurant) in Kaunakakai, the only town on Molokai. The staff are very friendly too

My 4 favourite Hawaii beaches

The Hawaii Islands have hundreds of breathtaking beaches. They range from white sand to black with every shade of yellow in between. You’ll even find red sand and green sand beaches. But I’ve managed to narrow it down to 4 off-the-beaten path Hawaii beaches, one on each island that I’ve visited.
