14 Exciting Caribbean Shore Excursions

Jun 27, 2022 | Caribbean, Experiences Around the World

You've booked (or you're thinking of booking) a Caribbean Cruise on board Norwegian's Viva for Christmas 2023. You know you'll be visiting 7 beautiful islands in the Eastern Caribbean—Puerto Rico (where your cruise starts and ends), Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, Antigua, Saint Lucia, Barbados, St. Maarten, and St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. Now you're wondering which shore excursions to pick for when the cruise ship arrives at each port of call. Below I share two shore excursions for each island you'll visit to ensure you satisfy your thirst for adventure and get a taste of each island.

If you’ve booked (or you’re considering booking) the 7-Day Christmas 2023 Caribbean Cruise on NCL’s newest ship, the Norwegian Viva, there will be no days at sea. On this 7-day Caribbean cruise, there will be a port of call every single day. This means, once you depart San Juan, Puerto Rico, you’ll be visiting six more beautiful islands in the Eastern Caribbean—starting with Tortola (BVI), Antigua, Saint Lucia, Barbados, St Maarten and St. Thomas (USVI), then returning back to Puerto Rico.

When you arrive at each port of call, you’ll have the opportunity to explore each island on an excursion with NCL. By booking an excursion organized by NCL, you are guaranteed to arrive back at the ship before it departs for its next port of call. You’ll also be one of the first to leave the ship in the morning for your day’s adventure.

At the time of writing this post, there were 93 excursions to choose from. To help you narrow down your selection, I’m sharing two for each island that will not only satisfy your thirst for adventure, but will also give you a taste of each island, its history, culture, personality, and of course its cuisine. Since there are 93 shore excursions to choose from, if the ones I’ve picked don’t appeal to you, I’d be glad to help you arrange a different one.

My 4 favourite Hawaii beaches

The Hawaii Islands have hundreds of breathtaking beaches. They range from white sand to black with every shade of yellow in between. You’ll even find red sand and green sand beaches. But I’ve managed to narrow it down to 4 off-the-beaten path Hawaii beaches, one on each island that I’ve visited.

Favourite experience on my one-day Iceland stopover

On a recent one-day Iceland stopover, I rented a car and toured the Reykjanes Peninsula. One of two solo trips to Iceland in less than a month, I had created an itinerary of all the sights I wanted to see. The recently active Fagradalsfjall volcano, in the Geldingadalur Valley, was one of the main sights I wanted to see. What I didn’t expect was for it to become the highlight of my Reykjanes Peninsula tour and my favourite experience on my one-day Iceland stopover.
